With 20 years’ experience painting many different marques I have a true passion for paintwork and always strive for excellence.
My entry into car bodywork was not a conventional one. At the age of 18 I was offered a job as a commercial vehicle builder – building milk tankers, fabricating bracketry, fitting hydraulic systems and huge stainless steel tanks to 40 foot trailers AND painting! This part came naturally to me – I seemed to have a flair for it. Painting these large commercials gave me vast hours of ‘gun time’. Four years’ later I was offered a job with a well-respected bodyshop working on high end cars to exacting standards – it was the challenge I needed and I have never looked back.
In those years I worked on Ferrari 250 GTO, 288 GTO, F40, F50, Testarossa, 246 GT and a host of modern Prancing Horses. Also Maserati Ghibli, 250F and T61 Birdcage, Alfa TZ, GTA and Montreal, Jaguar C Type and E Type, various Porsches and Astons and a Bugatti Type 35.
Outside work I enjoy cycling – both on the road and trails. I am a keen runner with a tendency towards challenging and muddy courses. I believe you learn a lot about yourself as an individual when taken out of your comfort zone. I am trying to learn the violin, build and fly model aircraft, have a keen interest in Swiss watches and one day will trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp.
My favourite car is without doubt the Ferrari 246GT ‘Dino’. Its timeless and delicate lines are just beautiful; the car captures emotion. My favourite colour on a car is the Viper Green of the Porsche 2.7RS.
If I won the lottery I would (in this order):
It is very important for me to feel part of something, and here at Thornley Kelham I feel a very valued member in a team of dedicated and talented individuals driven by a true passion for cars and a commitment to the highest standards.
