Some of the Thornley Kelham team, along with partners and friends, enjoyed a grand day out last week at the Goodwood Revival, the historic, three day motor racing and aviation event held at Goodwood House each year. The recently completed Lancia Aurelia B20GT 'Fuorilegge' ('Outlaw' in Italian) was unveiled to the public for the first time at Salon Prive', the prestigious concours and supercar event held at Blenheim Palace. Taking pride of place on our stand, it drew many interested admirers and was highly praised for its beautiful lines, stunning detailing and overall 'wow' factor. Many wanted to vote it 'Best Car in Show' even though it wasn't eligible due to it not being entered in the concours competition.

The 2015 Salon Prive’ Concours d’Elegance, held at Blenheim Palace this year for the first time, proved a huge success for Thornley Kelham, who were awarded prizes for both cars entered into this prestigious event. A unique, Giovanni Michelotti-designed, Motto-bodied barchettaknown as the ‘Goldmanini’ was awarded ‘Most Sensitive Restoration’ of the entire show, a remarkable achievement in a field of superbly restored vehicles. Originally constructed for class G competition in SCCA races during the mid-1950s, the car was exhibited in the US, briefly raced and then stored for decades. A meticulous and painstaking restoration to original specification was carried out, using historical photographs and documents as reference.

Following a complete, two-year restoration at Thornley Kelham, this Lancia Aurelia B20GT had a fantastic first outing at this year's Mille Miglia, coming an impressive 124th in a race with 452 cars. The car's owner bought the car specifically with the intention to do the Mille Miglia one day and we were delighted to not only restore the car but support the car and drivers on their way round the route. Wayne, together with our Race Mechanic, Colin provided full support for drivers and vehicle, ensuring a smooth and trouble-free finish.
