This lovely 'Superleggera' open Flaminia had spent its life in Italy until sourced for its current owner in 2014 by Thornley Kelham. The car presented well, and drove extremely well. We imported the car and obtained a UK registration. During 2015 the owner spent over £30,000 with us to bring the car up to the required level. Works included rebuilding the transaxle and clutch, rebuild the suspension as necessary, fit a rebuilt brake servo and overhaul braking system, reface/rebuild cylinder heads, rebuild oil pump, overhaul electrical system, replace hoses, fit 5 new Michelin tyres, fit new hood and hood cover, replace various bushes and mounts throughout the car.
The car now drives extremely well - these single carb. versions have a surprising amount of torque - with typically fine balance and roadholding in the Lancia V6 tradition. The body and paintwork are in good condition, the interior is comfortable and also in good condition, and all switchgear and instruments are fully functioning. By no means a concours car, this lovely example provides a wonderful ownership and driving experience at great value - the Flaminia Convertibile is a proper 2-seater open -topped ~GT tourer with bags of 1960s style and glamour at a highly competitive price.
In the September 2015 issue of Classic & Sportscar, self-confessed Alfista Simon Charlesworth compared this very car with an Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider, concluding with the following words: 'It is an inescapable truth that, from there driver's seat, the Flaminia looks, feels and sounds more special than the Alfa.'
Come and see for yourself!
