This important and rare car was one of two Works Team Cars taken by Sunbeam to Ireland for the1929 Phoenix Park Grand Prix held on 13th July. Malcolm Campbell raced the number 1 car in the GP, but retired on the 29th lap with clutch failure. This car is known as the number 2 Team Car, was used for pre-race practice, and was retained by the works until 1931 when it was commissioned for sale. It is one of only 6 supercharged Sunbeam Twin Cams built, of which it is thought only 2 survive today; and has the original body and mechanical components. We repainted the chassis and running gear black to replace the red colour it came with. We used traditional coach painting techniques to reflect the correct finish original to the car.
