One of the first 500 cars produced, Simon has owned this car for nearly 14 years (purchased in a moment of 'Millennium madness'). The story of this iconic 911 is well covered, but briefly Porsche were unsure whether they would sell the 500 examples necessary for homologation; and these first cars all had thinner metal panels and thinner glass - regardless of their 'Lightweight' or 'Touring' designation (not Porsche terminology). This particular car still retains all of its original outer panels, and is to the same specification as the day it left the factory in December 1972. Having spent all of its earlier life in Switzerland under three separate owners, it is now in the UK and is regularly used. We have recently been through the braking system and serviced the car, and it is back on the road.
In the end, Porsche produced 1280 of these wonderful cars, although there are now maybe a couple of thousand out there….
