1952 Lancia Aurelia B20GT Series 2 Coupé

Discovered in Ron Francis' Welsh hillside (the 'Aladdin's cave' for Lancia enthusiasts), this Series 2 (Simon's personal favorite) was in a seriously poor state. The previous owner had made a start on restoring ancillaries such as the instruments, and the interior, probably because the bodywork was too daunting! TK eventually found a brave and enthusiastic buyer for the car (only 731 Series 2 versions were made, many of which have not survived). Our instruction was to restore the car to original specification other than fitting Borrani bi-metallic wheels; indeed the new owner even sourced a bolt of original grey cloth for the interior retrim.

Once the car was fully stripped down and came back from acid dipping, the full extent of our challenge was clear. But Darren and his team have been up to the task. Over 1000 hours later all the new metal is in place (only sills can be bought ready made) and the car was prepared for paint. In the meantime we have rebuilt the transaxle, brakes etc. as well as the engine. Now complete, the car is resplendent in its new livery and it is hugely rewarding to see one of the few remaining Series 2 back from the brink of dereliction.
