Thornley Kelham had a fantastic day out at the Wilton Classic Supercar event held in the stunningly beautiful grounds of Wilton House near Salisbury in Wiltshire. As the only classic car restoration company invited to show cars at this event, we transported eight classic and vintage cars to showcase some of our latest restoration projects as well as the breadth of our range of projects.
Our display ranged from a 1928 Amilcar C6 to a 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale - with an Aston Martin DB4, a Bentley Continental R-Type, a Bristol 400, a Porsche 2.7 RS, a Lancia Aurelia Series 4, a Lancia Ardea, and a Lancia Flaminia Zagato Supersport in between.
The cars looked wonderful on the lawns next to Wilton House which provided a glorious backdrop to a vast array of classic makes and models. Juxtaposed with the classics were the very latest supercars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Mclarens and BMWs, making a fabulous contrast with the old. In the ‘Head to Head’ display, our 1960 Aston Martin DB4 went up against the latest Aston Martin Vanquish, completely outshining it, we think…
On a typical British summer’s day, sudden showers were interspersed with bright sunshine resulting in both damp clothes and sunburn! The cars were regularly wiped down to keep the rain off and the display drew large numbers of interested spectators enquiring about the various vehicles and their history.
Lord Pembroke was a great host, and event organizer, Nicholas Margerison, looked after us all very well. Many thanks also to James Cross, customer and friend who came to help look after his own car on display, the Lancia Aurelia, as well as lending a hand to keep them all looking splendid.
