Restoration » Metalwork

It's not every day that you can see a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona and a Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider undergoing major body repair works in the same place at the same time.

Our talented team of panel beaters are very busy at present restoring the bodies of these rare, valuable and collectible cars to factory original specification.

Repairing your car's body work is a major expense. Most classic car owners understand the benefit of dealing with the early signs of corrosion as soon as possible, and many have experienced the pain - and gain - of undertaking a major bare metal restoration. Either way, we believe there is only one way to tackle any body work problems - thoroughly and completely. Whether eradicating the early signs of rust or corrosion, repairing accident damage, or stripping and repairing a complete chassis, body shell and panels, we are painstaking in every aspect of the restoration process.

We work regularly with steel and aluminium vintage and classic bodywork. We have an old school wheeling machine, folders, swagers, fly press and so on, to enable us to fabricate any repair panels necessary during the restoration process.

We have built a 'special' from scratch, virtually rebuilt several Aurelias, and fabricate panels and fittings on an almost daily basis.

Many hours are spent removing old paint, filler and bad metal, but we are pragmatic and in consultation with you, we will choose the most cost effective and appropriate way to do this - chemically by hand, sand/media blasting, or dipping. New panels or repair sections will be welded in using gas, MIG or TIG as appropriate. Only in this way can we be confident that our work will stand the test of time.

Given the likely cost of a complete body restoration, we are always happy to try and find flexible ways of staging the work, and costing the various options. For example, extensive repairs of say, a pair of vintage wings or replacement with newly-made, accurate reproductions? Whatever work needs doing, or decisions need taking, we work with you to keep within agreed budgets as much as possible.
