The story of how Lancia transformed a standard 5-door family hatchback into a 6 time World Rally Champion (1987 -1992) is well documented. In terms of road cars, despite the sweetness of the early 8 valve version, it was the Evoluzione cars that set the market alight, and which have become such desirable collectors’ cars today. Top of the list are the special edition cars, and of those, the commemorative Martini 5 edition is arguably the most sought-after.
Based on the Evo 1, only 400 examples were produced in 1992, to celebrate Lancia’s 5th WRC title. Mechanically identical to the standard road car, these special models all had white paintwork with a black rear roof spoiler, Martini stripes, white wheels, red seatbelts and black interior with red stitching. A small numbered plaque in front of the gear lever shows the car’s unique number.
The example we have for sale, number 203, was imported by us from Italy 2 years ago, as a one owner car with incredibly low mileage. Thornley Kelham completed the import documentation and UK road registration, went through the car thoroughly, and spent around £3500 to bring it up to the highest standards (the car had been stationary for several years). We then sold it to our client who has now decided it is time for a change.
Still showing an incredible 8721 kilometres only (c. 5400 miles) the car is immaculate and drives like a new model. Both the exterior paintwork and underneath the car are faultless, and the interior reflects the low mileage – the doors still retain their protective factory plastic covering, and the alcantara is as new. Having benefitted from a recent full service and comprehensive check over in house, the car is available to view in our workshops and we believe must be one of the best examples of one of the most desirable collector cars of today.
And did we mention how much fun it is? Point to point, particularly across country, we doubt whether many cars could keep up with such a well-sorted Integrale as this one.
